Ring for Service

Wechsler Ross & Partners, a New York-based marketing and design firm, has hired two executives to bolster its account management. The new positions shift the structure of customer relations, emphasizing long-term relationships.

Bruce Thorpe and Robert Carr have been hired as senior vice presidents to helm the account management team in tandem. Each will manage five people and both report to Arnold Wechsler, chief executive officer of the company.

Thorpe, once vice president of business development, spent about nine months at Fund Distributors, returning to Wechsler for this position in September. Carr came most recently from Citigroup, where he had been a vice president in the area of third-party distribution for SSB.

The change came partly from customer demand and partly from the company's own philosophy.

"The company is getting heavier into business development and client service," said Wechsler. "I think that a number of our clients were very happy with someone sheparding projects through the firm. Others wanted someone with more experience in the financial services industry. It's really inspired by a much deeper client service ethic, be it implemented online or in print."

Clients now experience much different work flow than in the past. Previously, project managers saw to it that individual projects reached completion; the new executives are now responsible for maintaining continuity over the long haul.

"It's a much different configuration than in the past. We had a top-down business structure," explained Wechsler. "We're gaining a much more consultative component to our business."
