Go West Wholesalers!

Palo Alto-based Kelmoore Investment Company has brought on board Max Kadis in the newly created position of director of operations and has New Year plans to bulk up on wholesalers.

Kadis comes to the company from PFPC, where he had served as manager of client services. In fact, Kadis first came in contact with Kelmoore as PFPC's liason for its transfer agency services.

"I worked with him day-to-day for the last year," said Tammy Heiman, senior executive vice president of marketing and operations at Kelmoore. "When we started the search for this position, Max came to mind."

How did PFPC react to this staffing swipe?

"We actually have a good relationship with them," said Heiman. "They were sad to have him leave, but happy to have him with us. We're not going to do it again."

Kadis will report to Heiman, who has been managing operations until now.

The company is also staffing for anticipated ballooning sales.

"We're going to hire ten new sales people in the field, wholesalers," said Matthew Kelmon, president of the Kelmoore Investing Trust. "We're looking to double our sales force."

PFPC officials declined to comment for this article.
