Putnam Adds International Manager


Putnam has fill a spot on its team of international fund managers by hiring Simon Davis. Davis, who joined the Boston-based firm last week, will take the title of senior vice president, senior portfolio on Putnam's international core equities division. The team now includes 10 investment professionals and manages more than $50 billion in mutual fund and institutional assets.

Davis now co-manages the firm's Asian-Pacific and international portfolios. He reports to managing director Omid Kamshad, chief investment officer for international core equities.

Davis was most recently the lead manager of a Deutsche Asset Management's Tokyo-based investment team which specializes in small and midsize Japanese equities and manages $3 billion in retail and institutional assets. He started his career with Deutsche Morgan Grenfell in 1988.
