Marshall Carter is stepping down as State Street's CEO, and will retire as chairman at the end of the year. Carter is retiring pursuant to the company's succession plan.

David Spina is the new the CEO, and will become chairman upon Carter's departure.

In other moves, COO Ronald Logue and chief administrative officer Nicholas Lopardo were named to the company's board of directors.
