AIM Hires Two

AIM has announced two additions to the firm. John Cooper is the new first vice president and director of the Retirement Marketing division. Abel Garcia is the new portfolio co-manager on the Global Telecommunications and Technology fund.

Cooper joins AIM from Putnam, where he was vice president of sales administration and client development. He will report to Gary Littlepage, senior V.P. for marketing. He is replacing Kamala Sachidandan, who is forming a new department at AIM.

Garcia was a portfolio manager at Oveland Park, Kan-based Waddell & Reed for the past 17 years. "I'm a Texas native, and I was eager to get back home," he said. Garcia joins David Barnard, Jonathan Schoolar, Claude Cody, Robert Kippes, Kenneth Zschappel, and Jason Holzer on the management team of Global Telecommunications and Technology. According to Garcia, AIM uses the committee approach to management in order to "avoid the star system."
