Bringing Logical Information to Advisors

We all have friends who think they belong on "Jeopardy" or "Who Wants To Be a Millionaire", people who know a little about everything. Nobody, however, masters all of the many sectors of knowledge, especially in the financial world and registered investment advisors are no exception. Usually an advisor will specialize in one style of investing or one asset class.

Keeping this in mind, New York City, New York-based MultiLogic Inc. has created software to keep detailed and specific advice about a broad range of financial products at the fingertips of advisors.

The company has created Web- enabled software that can enable advisors and brokers to access information for areas where they might not have expertise. For example, if a high-net-worth client wants information about variable annuities but the advisor does not normally use them he can call up a screen on annuities, fill in information about the client -- location, age and investment amount -- and the computer will output exactly what annuity the investor should buy.

"Retail brokers and financial advisors just cannot have information about all the products available and how they work," Philip Cenatiempo, vice president of marketing at MultiLogic said.

MultiLogic has created advisory products on many topics including employee stock options, restricted stock, estate planning capital gains and compliance.

Cenatiempo said the company is presently working with Insyte, a Boston-based software application developer, to build an advice tool on mutual funds. "We were thinking -- how do we help the mutual fund industry help planners learn about mutual funds and sell their products."

The new product would give mutual fund companies a way to differentiate themselves by insuring a good fit between the asset manager and the shareholder, Cenatiempo pointed out.

"Enablement and empowerment is what we are offering," Cenatiempo said. Unlike most Web-based advice products that are geared towards the end user and totally hands-off, the MultiLogic software allows the advisor make sure the advice is "logical" for the client and strengthens their relationship.

MultiLogic advice can also be used to help financial companies generate new revenue streams for its products as well as educate employees. "How does a company like Fidelity touch all of its employees and educate them about its products?" Cenatiempo said. "Virtual education is a quick solution for financial companies to keep the young flock they are hiring up to speed."
