Wednesday, November 17, 1999 Hartford Fund Director Adds 401k Duties David N. Levenson, vice president and director of The Hartford Mutual Funds has been named director of 401(k) retirement plan sales for Hartford Life.
"The addition of Dave to the group retirement plan team is a significant investment in the 401(k) business, which is so important to us strategically, " said Thomas M. Marra, executive vice present and director of Hartford Life's Investment Products Division. "With this move, we will be better able to ... strengthen the ties between our 401(k) and mutual fund strategies." A spokesperson for Hartford said Levenson was chosen to direct the 401(k) market rather than hire a new employee because "he launched our mutual fund family in 1996 and developed many contacts in the broker-dealer community. We are hoping he will be able to leverage them." Through the first three quarters of 1999, Hartford Life has increased sales in 401(k) plans by 129%, compared with the same period in 1998. Levenson will report to Donald Salama, vice president and director of Retirement Plan Solutions for 401(k) sales and will continue to report to Marra for mutual funds.
