Like the rest of the mutual fund industry, Federated is required by the SEC to accompany many marketing materials with a fund prospectus to ensure full disclosure of the fund info.

But in a letter mailed today to financial advisors, the Pittsburgh-based fund family is offering an online prospectus option, not to replace the standard prospectus mailings, but to eliminate the multiple mailings that result from even simple client requests.

The letter offers advisors the option to accept delivery of prospectuses on an ongoing basis through Federated's website.

Federated is stressing the benefits as "reducing the clutter factor" of multiple prospectuses, as well as "re-channeling dollars spent on mass mailings towards more meaningful communications."
