SunAmerica Takes Kids Out to the Ballgame

SunAmerica, one of the New York Yankees' season sponsors, is using its new alliance to take mutual fund education to today's youth. SunAmerica Mutual Funds and the Yankees will co-sponsor an essay contest about the importance of savings, with the winners receiving a trip to a Yankees game and a $250 "Education Award."

The contest is open to fifth through eighth graders at Brooklyn's P.S. 95 and the children must write essays on the questions, "Why is saving for the future important?" and "What could you do today to begin planning for your future?"

As part of the contest, SunAmerica Mutual Funds will also contribute computers to P.S. 95's Project Smart program, the school's initiative to improve the children's computer literacy. Child-friendly investment tutorial software will be installed on the computers. In addition, Francis Gannon, SunAmerica Mutual Funds' senior equity portfolio manager, will speak to P.S. 95 students in grades five through eight about the importance of saving and investing.
