Tuesday, May 18, 1999 Alleghany Acquires International Funds Alleghany Funds have completed the acquisition of Scottish asset manager Blairlogie Capital Management, and two associated international funds from PIMCO Advisors. The addition of Blairlogie, first announced last fall, gives Alleghany its first international funds, the PIMCO International Developed Fund now named the Alleghany/Blairlogie International Developed Fund and the PIMCO Emerging Markets Fund now named the Alleghany/Blairlogie Emerging Markets Fund. Both funds will continue to be managed by Blairlogie Capital Management, based in Edinburgh, Scotland. "We chose Blairlogie as our international manager because they are institutional managers who adhere to the same tenets as Alleghany's other investment managers: a commitment to a disciplined style of investing, a dedication to research and analysis, diligent risk management, and lower expense ratios," said Ken Anderson, Alleghany Funds' president.
