Funds Grouped in Black and White

As of May 3, all of the Liberty Financial Companies' (L) funds including the Colonial, Crabbe Huson, Stein Roe Advisor and Newport funds listings are being grouped together in newspapers and similar publications under the name "Liberty."

The company says that the change is designed to make it easier for shareholders and investment professionals to find their funds in the newspaper. It is also part of the company's move to further identify the fund companies under the umbrella of the Liberty group of funds.

Rather than being placed under individual alphabetical listings, as in the past, there will be four groups of funds found under "Liberty." "Liberty-Colonial" will list the Colonial Funds, advised by Colonial Management Associates, Inc. "Liberty-Crabbe Huson" will list the Crabbe Huson Funds, advised by Crabbe Huson Group, Inc. "Liberty-Newport" will list the Newport Funds, advised by Newport Fund Management, Inc. "Liberty-Stein Roe Advisor" will list the Stein Roe Advisor Funds, advised by Stein Roe & Farnham Incorporated.

The Stein Roe Funds, which are distributed directly to the public, will retain their own newspaper listings under "Stein Roe." The change in listing does not affect the names of individual funds or fund families.

"There's much more involved than what appears in the newspaper, this is a much more difficult task than one would think," said a company spokesman, adding that this is just the tip of the iceberg in terms of the back office, recordkeeping, and compliance changes involved with the move.
