Nuveen Gains Equity Research Head

The John Nuveen Company (JNC) announced that it has hired Eugene E. Peroni, Jr., a high profile stock expert with 25 years of industry experience, to head the equity research group of its Defined Portfolio business.

"We're pleased to bring Gene's well-known talent to The John Nuveen Company," said Tim Schwertfeger, chairman and ceo of the Chicago-based investment management company. "His skills will significantly enhance our equity research capabilities and enable us to accelerate our success with quality equity-based products that help financial advisers satisfy the needs of their affluent and high net worth clients."

"The performance of Gene's annual Top Ten Picks has been outstanding," he added. "Over the past 10 years the picks have consistently outperformed the Dow Jones Industrial Average, and the cumulative performance record is dramatically higher."

Peroni will hold the position of director of equity research for Nuveen Defined Portfolios, its unit trust division. He currently directs research at Janney Montgomery Scott, a Philadelphia-based investment firm, where he's compiled an impressive track record since 1986.

Peroni authors the Peroni Report, a daily and weekly stock market advisory offering a short-term market outlook and specific stock recommendations for both short- and long-term investments. He will be based in Radnor, Pa., near Philadelphia, at the headquarters of Rittenhouse Financial Services, a large-cap growth manager that is part of Nuveen.
