UAM Upgrades Advisor Website

United Asset Management Corp. (UAM) has upgraded both the advisor and fund shareholder areas of its website, which supports the 45 portfolios managed by 25 institutional money management firms affiliated with UAM. The main changes for the advisor site are manager access related, with new portfolio commentaries, investment newsletters, and portfolio manager conference calls.

  • "In today's competitive financial marketplace, financial advisors are looking to mutual funds for more than just superior performance, so we're providing advisors with web-based tools that will enable them to make better-informed investment decisions on behalf of their clients," said James P. Pappas, president of UAM Investment Services, which markets UAM Funds to financial advisors. "Our goal is to use our website to provide advisors with practical investment information, better contact with portfolio managers, and innovative analytical tools."

Recent enhancements to the advisor area of the site include:
    • In late June, UAM Investment Services hosted its first live webcast of a UAM Funds portfolio manager speaking to financial advisors. Harindra de Silva, President of Analytic Investors, discussed his firm's investment approach and answered live questions from advisors. The audio portion of the webcast was supplemented with an online slide show. Additional webcasts are planned.
    • In-depth portfolio manager discussions of investment philosophy and the investment process are now available on the website. Manager reviews of quarterly investment performance will be available in early August.
    • Essays written by UAM's investment analysts on a variety of investment topics, such as the timeliness of particular asset classes and investment styles, are now available on the website. Recent newsletters have addressed such issues as the need for portfolio diversification and mid-cap stocks as an asset class.
New features have been added to the website for UAM Fund shareholders as well. Shareholders can now access up-to-date account balances and transaction histories. Existing shareholders also have the ability to purchase additional shares through a link with their bank, exchange shares between accounts, and order duplicate tax forms and tax statements.
