Thursday, May 3, 2001 Skandia Hands Off Sub-Account American Skandia has changed the manager on one of its variable annuity sub-accounts and added four others. The AST Goldman Sachs Small-Cap Value Portfolio replaces the ST Lord Abbett Small Cap Value Portfolio. Why nudge Lord Abbett for Goldman Sachs? "It was a mutual decision between American Skandia and Lord Abbett," explained Jac Herschler, vice president of variable annuity marketing at American Skandia. "It was an issue about scale in terms of assets in that asset class that they were prepared to support." Herschler could not specify the size of account or what cap Lord Abbett or Goldman Sachs would impose on the portfolio. Lord Abbett officials were not available for comment at press time.
