UNX Cuts Marketing Position

Jim Degracia, who had been swiped from VISA in order to build branding strategies and vendor relationships at UNX, has left his position as vice president of marketing and business integration. The departure was mutually arrived at.

Having completed his work with the new venture, Degracia was left with an ambiguous and reduced role. Degracia's remaining responsibilities will be spread among existing employees, so UNX is not seeking to fill the position.

"He did his job in spades," said Matt Ridenour, chief executive officer. "[But] we're not a FOLIOfn-type company and spend three quarters of our money on brand and marketing."

Ridenour emphasized that the downsized position is not a result of a tightening business, citing 22 positions across the business that the Burbank, California firm is budgeted to fill. Degracia was unavailable for comment.
