American Century Dons New Small Caps

American Century is replacing a pair of small-cap funds which had been closed to new investors. Both new funds have been filed with the SEC and are slated to open in the spring.

The International Small Cap Fund will take the place International Discovery, which had been closed on January 28. The Dow Small Cap will take the place of the New Opportunities Fund, which was closed November 22 of last year. According to Chris Doyle, American Century spokesman, both funds were shut off to new investors because they had reached pre-set asset limits.

Doyle also pointed out that the names in the SEC filings are placeholder names, indicating the firm will likely make some changes before the funds open next year.
