Third Avenue's Whitman to Step Down as Co-CIO


Third Avenue Management founder Marty Whitman is stepping down from his post as co-chief investment officer, the Wall Street Journal's Eleanor Laise reports. Curtis Jensen will become the sole CIO.

Whitman, 85, will continue to co-manage the New York City fund firm's flagship Third Avenue Value Fund.

In July of last year, Ian Lapey joined Whitman in running the value fund. Whitman has managed the fund since its creation in 1990.
