Who Made it to Morningstar's Manager of the Decade Shortlist?


Morningstar on Thursday unveiled the list of nominees for the first-ever Fund Manager of the Decade award. The Chicago-based firm will reveal the winners in three broad asset classes in January.

In the domestic stock category, the nominees are Bruce Berkowitz of Fairholme, Charlie Dreifus of Royce Special Equity Investment, Steve Romick, of FPA Crescent, Joel Tillinghast of Fidelity Low-Priced Stock and Yacktman's Don Yacktman.

In the international stock realm, the nominees are the team that runs American Funds EuroPacific Growth, the team at the helm of Manning & Napier World Opportunities, Jean-Marie Eveillard of First Eagle Global, David Herro of Oakmark International Small Cap I and Oakmark International I and Dennis Stattman of BlackRock Global Allocation A.

On the fixed-income side, the nominees are the team that manages Dodge & Cox Income, Dan Fuss of Loomis Sayles Bond Retail, Bill Gross of Pimco Total Return Institutional, Jeffrey Gundlach of TCW Total Return Bond I and Christine Thompson of Fidelity Municipal Income and Fidelity Advisor Municipal Income A.

Besides performance over the past 10 years, Morningstar looks at factors such as strategy, approach to risk, size of the fund, and stewardship.
