Growth Funds Are Gearing Up

Fundsters interested in growth-value divide may want to take a look at Annelena Lobb's Monday article in the Wall Street Journal. In the WSJ's special monthly Investing in Funds report, Lobb reports that growth stocks are poised to return to prominence in mutual fund portfolios.

Though value stocks have led the way in this year's market rebound, growth equities may take over soon, say some fund managers.

"If we're in a tough world where revenues are hard to come by, where you need to sell to emerging markets to find growth, bigger companies will benefit more, and old-fashioned growth businesses" will do best, Ron Sloan, senior portfolio manager at Invesco AIM, told the WSJ.

Also getting quote time in the article was Dave Hintz, head of U.S. equity research at Russell Investments; Jeff Cardon, CEO of Wasatch Advisors; and Allison Thacker, a portfolio manager at RS Investments.
