In March, State Street Global Advisors CEO Scott Powers brought in Jamie Kase to run global sales and marketing. Kase, who relocated from New York to Boston for the job, oversees sales, marketing and relationship management in the institutional and intermediary markets.

SSgA's AUM went up 11.6 percent from $1.39 trillion at the end of March to $1.55 trillion at the close of June. The No. 2 ETF provider behind Barclays Global Investors, SSgA had more than $160 billion in its SPDR ETFs as of August 31.

Kase has plenty of experience pitching investment offerings to institutional investors. Before he joined SSgA, Kase led ING Investment Management's distribution across defined benefit and investment-only defined contribution channels. Earlier, he worked at Merrill Lynch Investment Management as chief operating officer and head of the institutional business in the Americas.
