Wednesday, April 8, 2009 Goldman Sachs Pushes Three Asset Management Execs to the 'C' Level Goldman Sachs Asset Management just filled an open 'C' level post while creating another such post. The MFWire has learned that Eileen Rominger just took the brand new post of global chief investment officer for portfolio management at GSAM, while Eric Lane and Steve McGuinness now serve as co-chief operating officers of the investment management division. According to an internal Goldman memo obtained by MFWire, the asset management unit created Rominger's new post "to foster [Goldman's] investment culture and facilitate the sharing of ideas and best practices across portfolio management teams." As for the COO post, it had previously been filled by Marc Spilker, who moved up to become co-head of investment management, alongside Tim O'Neill (see MFWire, 6/20/2008). Rominger, who joined Goldman in 1999, had served as GSAM's global head of fundamental equity since 2007. Growth equity co-chief investment officer Steve Barry will step in to Rominger's old role. In addition to their new roles, Lane will continue to lead investment management's alternative investments and capital markets business, and McGuinness will continue to lead distribution for GSAM.
