Wednesday, April 1, 2009 Global Fund Managers Hang their Hopes on a U.S. Turnaround Fundsters interested in portfolio management of global funds should take a look at Wednesday's Wall Street Journal Fund Track column. Sam Mamudi reports that global managers are waiting for the U.S. to lead a worldwide economic recovery. According to Lipper, so-called world stock funds lost 11.5 percent year-to-date, as of March 30. Mamudi cites several fundsters as experts, including: David Boyle, pan-European equities investment manager at Aberdeen Asset Management; Ryan Caldwell, manager of Ivy Asset Strategy Fund; Andrew Foster, acting chief investment officer of Matthews International Capital Management; Virginie Maisonneuve, head of global and international equities at Schroder Investment Management; and William Rocco, analyst at Morningstar. In the same column, Mamudi also notes the Treasury's latest extension of the money market fund guarantee program (see MFWire, 4/1/2009).
