Sentinel Chief Finds Himself in an Enviable Position

Sentinel Investments may be one of the few fund firms out there that are still adding to their payrolls. The firm is seeing its marketing efforts of the past year come to fruition just as other fund firms are feeing the pinch of the current market crisis.

Christian Thwaites, CEO of Sentinel Investments, told the MFWire that the company is still hiring for one or two more wholesaler positions in addition to those added earlier this year (see MFWire July 25, 2008). He added that despite the tough markets out there, Sentinel is "in a growth phase."

"These are very good times for us," he added.

Sentinel recently shifted its sales and marketing strategy to include a greater focus on its investment process. The company's strategy had previously focused on its history.

In the last six months the company has seen new RIA interest and has also landed its funds on Morgan Stanley's, Merrill Lynch's, and LPL's platforms, Thwaites says.
