BlackRock Preps to Swallow Two Funds

Larry Fink is about to bring more mutual fund investors under his brand. On Friday Dow Jones' Gee L. Lee reported that shareholders of the PNC Equity Growth Fund and the PNC Growth & Income Fund will vote on October 31 on whether or not to reorganize their funds into BlackRock offerings, the first into the BlackRock Capital Appreciation Portfolio and the second into the BlackRock Large Cap Core Fund. Way back prior to the Merrill Lynch deal in early 2006, PNC Bank held 70 percent of BlackRock; afterwards, PNC held 34 percent. (See MFWire, February 15, 2006.)
