Thursday, June 5, 2008 Van Kampen Vet Switches Sides Thursday's WSJ Fund Track reports on a Van Kampen portfolio manager's trek to another business silo. Jim Gilligan, portfolio manager for several Van Kampen funds, will be transitioning to product development. He will also serve as an advisor to the equity-income team. This is an interesting decision for Gilligan because Van Kampen's parent, Morgan Stanley, has put more of a focus on developing alternative investment products than equity products. Also, the portfolio side of the business is usually a more lucrative career path, unless Morgan Stanley is grooming Gilligan for future career decisions. The Fund Track column also includes a different take on Vanguard's share split for three of its ETFs. To read the MFWire's take from yesterday, click here.
