Company Press release

Evergreen Investments is pleased to announce the addition of Carol A. Kosel to the Board of Trustees of the Evergreen Funds. Kosel has more than 20 years experience in the financial services industry. Prior to joining, she worked for two years as an independent consultant for the Evergreen Funds Board of Trustees. Previously she served as Evergreen's Treasurer, managing the firm's Fund Administration division. Prior to that, she spent 11 years in the financial services practice at KPMG focusing on mutual fund regulation and investment management.

"Carol's awareness of Evergreen's leadership and structure, as well as her proficiency in mutual fund administration, will bring an added level of expertise, counsel and insight to the Board," said Michael Scofield, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Evergreen Funds. "We have had the privilege of relying on Carol's project management skills and industry knowledge on many occasions during her tenure as consultant to the Board. We are confident that she will continue to apply her proven capabilities as a true advocate for shareholders."

In addition to her role as independent Trustee, Kosel will take an active role in the Board's Distribution, 12b-1 and Service Committee. As such, she will have responsibility for overseeing the distributor's program for marketing and distributing shares of Evergreen's funds; overseeing the nature and quality of services provided to investors in the funds; and reviewing the levels of fund expenses.

"It is an honor to have been chosen for this role," said Kosel. "I look forward to partnering with the Board of Trustees to respond to the challenges facing our industry and to provide assistance to management in their efforts to continually implement best practices for all Evergreen Fund policies and procedures as we seek to safeguard the investments -- and trust -- of our shareholders."

Kosel earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Moorhead State University in Minnesota and is a Certified Public Accountant.
