AIM Smells an Opportunity in Volatility

The folks at AIM Investments said they have decided to reopen the AIM European Small Company Fund due to the volatility in foreign markets, which company officials said has "created compelling opportunities" in European small-cap securities. The fund, which currently has an AUM south of $300 million, will reopen on Friday but may be closed again when AUM nears $500 million.

Company Press Release

AIM Investments has announced that the AIM Funds Board of Trustees and management team of AIM European Small Company Fund has approved reopening the fund to new investors as a result of attractive new investment opportunities.

The fund will reopen to all investors commencing with the start of business on Feb. 1, 2008, but may be closed again once fund assets under management near $500 million.

With fund assets under management now below $300 million, the portfolio management team seeks to take advantage of volatility in foreign markets which has created compelling opportunities in European small-cap securities. Buying securities at favorable valuations can benefit both current and prospective fund shareholders.
