Wednesday, October 17, 2007 Ex-Milberg Client Expected To Plead Guilty Seymour Lazar, a former client of class action law firm Milberg Weiss, is expected to plead guilty to three charges this week, The New York Times reports. Lazar is a co-defendant in the criminal case against the class action law firm and the firm's founder, Melvyn Weiss. The case centers on an alleged scheme in which kickbacks were given to clients in exchange for becoming name plaintiffs. Lazar allegedly served as plaintiff in cases from 1976 to 2004. Meanwhile, Paul Selzer, a former attorney for Lazar, is in serious discussions with the government that may lead to a plea agreement. Selzer was indicted for allegedly helping mask payments to Lazar. For his part, Weiss pleaded not guilty on Monday. Printed from: MFWire.com/story.asp?s=16131 Copyright 2007, InvestmentWires, Inc. All Rights Reserved |
