Thursday, August 2, 2007 Evergreen CIO Becomes One of the Departed Evergreen's chief investment officer is heading out. The Boston Globe, citing an internal memo, reports that Chris Conkey came to a "mutual agreement" with Evergreen's chief executive, Dennis Ferro, to leave the company within a few weeks. Ferro will assume Conkey's duties in the interim. Conkey had been tasked with hiring new talent for Evergreen to replace many money managers that had recently departed. One notable hire of Conkey's term was star bond manager Margie Patel, whom he enticed away from Pioneer Investments. An Evergreen Spokeswoman told the paper that the CIO role had "evolved".
