Media Watch: Reporters on the Move

Fidelity has signed on an industry veteran with a background on the operations and consulting side of the mutual fund business as the newest member of its consulting and new business department.

Darby Hobbs, formerly senior vice president and managing director of distribution services at PFPC, is taking the role of senior vice president of consulting and new business development at the Boston Behemoth, the MFWire has learned.

A spokesperson for PFPC did not return calls seeking comment on how Hobbs' duties are being reassigned.

Hobbs will be an adviser to senior management, providing strategic and tactical assistance, according to a source with knowledge of the hiring.

Before joining PFPC, Hobbs was a senior vice president of business development at Bisys' Financial Research Corp. in Boston. She joined FRC in 2001 as part of a package deal in which she sold the assets of Graylyn Associates, her startup that published Ink Spot News, a news digest for the fund industry.

Hobbs began Ink Spot News while an executive at First Data in the 1990s.
