Columbia Hires New Client Pro


Columbia Management, investment management unit of Bank of America, has appointed Amanda H. Grant, as its head of institutional client service. She was previously head of global relationship management at Babson Capital Management LLC. Grant replaces Bill Brown, who is retiring from the company at the end of the month.


Columbia Management today announced the appointment of Amanda H. Grant, as its Head of Institutional Client Service. Grant, a 20-year industry veteran, is responsible for all aspects of client service, leading a team of service professionals focused exclusively on Columbia Management's institutional accounts.

She joins the organization from Babson Capital Management LLC, where she was the head of global relationship management. Grant will be based in Boston and report to Michael Jones, head of distribution for Columbia Management. Institutional assets under management for Columbia Management and affiliates as of December 31, 2006 were $244.7 billion.

"Amanda has the right combination of skills, experience and leadership to further strengthen our relationships with an increasingly global institutional client base," said Mike Jones. "She will play a key role in our effort to deliver clients strong investment performance, an expanding set of traditional and alternative products, and world-class service."

Previously, Grant founded and served as a principal of Middleton, New Jersey-based Currant Associates LLC, a client service consultancy for asset management organizations. Prior to that role, she was a senior vice president and manager of institutional client relations for Mitchell Hutchins, a subsidiary of UBS Global Asset Management. Earlier in her career, she was a senior relationship manager for Oppenheimer Capital in New York. She began her financial services career as a marketing associate in the Institutional Investment Services division for Shearson Lehman Hutton.

Grant replaces Bill Brown, who is retiring from the company at the end of the month.
