Tuesday, August 15, 2006 Two-Legged Race for Beantown Venture Bingham Legg, the Beantown joint venture between Bingam Dana, a law firm, and Legg Mason is possibly in the final stages of a very quiet auction. Indeed, a published report states that the firm's short list of potential buyers is down to two. The Boston Herald reports that the firm has two finalists "kicking the tires." The sale comes just seven years after the Boston law firm and Baltimore fund manager agreed to do business together. Either of the two firms could buy Bingham Legg, according to the report. The two potential buyers are separate from the two joint venture partners. The possibility of a sale was first reported by the paper in May.
