IXIS Eyes HNW and Bank Trust Markets

A FundQuest veteran has signed on with Boston-based IXIS Asset Management Advisors Group (IXIS) to help oversee that firm's push into the bank trust and high-net-worth advisor markets. IXIS has also shifted a number of its existing executives' roles to support the effort.

The new hire is William C. Butcher, who spent the past nine years as a principal and senior vice president in developing and implementing turnkey fee-based asset management programs for FundQuest. BNP Paribas purchased FundQuest in June of 2005. Before joining FundQuest, Butcher worked in in the private banking group at the Bank of Boston.

Butcher joined IXIS as a senior vice president in June and is responsible for building new distribution relationships for the firm in the bank trust and high-net-worth financial advisor platforms.

Meanwhile, IXIS also promoted a number of executives to assist in the effort. Among those seeing new duties is William S. Cashel and Shari Hands, who have both been named vice president and John M. Olsen, who has become a regional director.

Cashel has been a regional director in national sales and was responsible for separate account and mutual fund sales in the southern California territory. Hands joined the firm earlier this year from IXIS affiliate Loomis, Sayles & Company. Olsen has been responsible for separate account and mutual fund sales in the Florida territory since joining IXIS in 2004 from Liberty Funds Distributors, where he was a regional marketing consultant and product specialist.

All three executives will build new relationships for IXIS in the high-net-worth advisor community focusing on RIAs, family offices, and private banks.

"These new appointments add considerable depth to our capabilities in this important growth area of our business," said Matt Witkos, executive vice president and head of distribution for IXIS. "The bank trust and high-net-worth advisor channels represent significant market opportunities for the firm. Not only have we established a substantial asset base in these areas, but we also see strong growth potential in the future. This team will focus on new business development in these critical market segments."
