AIG Elevates Its Own

AIG SunAmerica Asset Management Corp. is looking within to fill its top positions. The Jersey City-based mutual fund company has promoted two executives, according to a release issued last Wednesday. Senior vice president of marketing and sales Jim Nichols will take over AIG's distribution arm, AIG SunAmerica Capital Services Inc., as president and CEO, while senior vice president and chief financial officer John Genoy will serve as chief operating officer of AIG SunAmerica Asset Management Corp.

Nichols, who takes over for the now-retired Steve Neamtz, has worked at AIG for 17 years. AIG SunAmerica Asset Management president and CEO Peter A. Harbeck praised Nichols' selection.

"Jim [Nichols] brings a tremendous wealth of knowledge and experience to his new role at the company," Harbeck said in the release. "His insights will be invaluable as we continue to grow our organization."

Harbeck also had good words to say about Genoy, who will continue to serve as CFO while adding his role as COO.

"I have worked with John for more than 11 years, and believe he brings strong insights and perspective to his new position," Harbeck stated. "I look forward to having him take a more active role in managing and growing our firm."
