Tuesday, March 14, 2006 Dreyfus Taps Former Scudder Distributors CEO The Dreyfus Corp. has hired the former head of Scudder Distributors as vice chair of distribution. In the newly created position, Jon Baum reports to Thomas Eggers, president of the New York City-based Dreyfus, a subsidiary of Mellon Financial Corp. and part of the newly formed Mellon Asset Management. Baum, who started his new job Monday, will supervise distribution to intermediaries of all financial products, as well as relationship management with intermediary partners, field management retirement and separate account specialists, and internal wholesalers, according to a news release. He will also become a member of the Dreyfus operating committee and senior management committee. "Dreyfus is now positioned as a customer-focused distribution company," Eggers said, adding that the hiring of Baum "will catapult our distribution activities, allowing us to better intensify our focus on our customers." Most recently, Baum was chief operating officer of Scudder Investments and chief executive of its distribution company. He was previously executive vice president and director of business development for the private client group at UBS Paine Webber.
