Wanna Read an ETF Blog?

Exchange-traded funds are getting their own blog. Global Trends Investments, a Newport Beach, California-based RIA, is behind the site. ETFTrends.com will provide daily news and commentary on ETFs targeted to investors, says Tom Lydon, president of Global Trends.

"ETFtrends weeds through all the marketing hype and focuses on the significant events and news in the ever-changing ETF space," he explained.

Blogs, short for WebLogs, are a trendy form of Website that typically has one or more unpaid authors commenting on a shared topic or theme. In many cases, they also aim at creating a community feel by encouraging comments from readers. These sites of caught the eye of venture capital firms in the past couple years. In one case, AOL spent a reported $25 million to purchase WebLogsInc.com, a site devoted to business and technology focused blogs operated by Jason Calacanis with funding from Mark Cuban.

Lydon has written all of the recent posts to the ETF Trends blog, though readers have failed to comment on any of the postings.

In his most recent posting, Lydon recommends that investors interested in micro-cap mutual funds instead turn their attention to micro-cap ETFs since many of the funds are closed to new investors.
