A 31-Year Industry Vet Leaves a Bank's AM Arm

Reported by Lauren Corradi

The team at a publicly traded bank's asset management arm is saying goodbye to a veteran who's been in the industry for more than three decades.

Merion Station, Pennsylvania-based Bill McVail, is retiring from PNC Capital Advisors, MFWire has learned. McVail has served as a senior relationship manager at the asset manager, which is part of PNC Financial Services Group.

A spokesperson for PNC did not immediately return a call for comment.

"I do this with mixed emotions — I have enjoyed working with my colleagues and my institutional clients, but after over 31 years in the investment management industry, I am ready for new challenges," McVail writes in a LinkedIn post.
In the meantime, while I do not anticipate working full-time in the investment management industry any more, I am keeping my options open — especially for a part-time or flex-time job that would still allow me the time I need to devote to my studies. If you know of any opportunities out there where I could help an organization in a more flexible role, I am all ears!

McVail's exit comes after PNC sold part of PNC Capital Advisors, including its mutual fund business, to another asset manager.

A Vassar College alumnus, McVail served at PNC Capital Advisors for nearly five years as senior relationship manager. Prior, he served at Turner Investments for nearly 16 years as senior portfolio manager. Before that, McVail served at BlackRock for more than four years as senior portfolio manager. McVail started his career back at PNC Investments for seven years where he served as senior research analyst.
