American Century Gets an Online Makeover

Reported by Tommy Fernandez

American Century [profile] has a brand spanking new website with loads of goodies including interactive tools for asset allocation.

The website's new asset allocation experience offers individual investors a full range of information and interactive tools that provide an opportunity to explore and compare American Century Investments' different fund-of-funds asset allocation investment options, specifically the LIVESTRONG Portfolios and One Choice Portfolios, according to the company.

The site now also offers the Quick Start Tool, which helps individual investors establish their tolerance for risk. The section allows users to learn more about risk- and time-based portfolios. When users click on an interactive "slider tool," they can see how portfolio allocations change based on risk tolerance. The time-based portfolio section allows investors to see how portfolios change based on when they expect to reach their savings and investment goals.

American Century Investments® Introduces New Online Experience

Any subhead

KANSAS CITY, Mo., Dec. 10, 2012 - American Century Investments recently rolled out a series of changes and enhancements to its website, americancentury.com, including a new asset allocation experience and a fresh look and feel.

"Client feedback drove these changes to the website," said Pedram Afshar, American Century Investments' vice president of client experience. "Our goal was to create a simpler, more intuitive experience to help clients find the information and tools they need faster than ever before."

The website's new asset allocation experience offers individual investors a full range of information and interactive tools that provide an opportunity to explore and compare American Century Investments' different fund-of-funds asset allocation investment options, specifically the LIVESTRONG® Portfolios and One Choice Portfolios®.

New to the asset allocation site is the Quick Start Tool, which helps individual investors establish their tolerance for risk. The section allows users to learn more about risk- and time-based portfolios. When users click on an interactive "slider tool," they can see how portfolio allocations change based on risk tolerance. The time-based portfolio section allows investors to see how portfolios change based on when they expect to reach their savings and investment goals.

Also, the entire American Century Investments' website has a new look and feel. Beyond refreshed and more engaging imagery, the site face lift gives clients an opportunity to visit new areas more quickly. Previously, it was sometimes challenging for clients to locate the information they were seeking because components were scattered in various locations. Now, within the "Find it Fast" section, individual investors have the ability to log in or register, open an account, find a fund or get daily fund prices.

According to Afshar, American Century Investments has a history of client centricity when it comes to providing web-based tools and gauging investor sentiment for new innovations. Back in 1996, the firm was one of the first mutual fund companies to allow investor transactions via the internet in 1996. More recently, the company has sponsored an annual study tracking the growing interest in the use of social media by financial intermediaries.

"With the digital environment constantly evolving, investors have a choice regarding how they want to do business with us, whether through the computer, tablet or smart phone," said Afshar. "We want to provide our clients with a consistent, easy-to-use experience, in their interaction channel of choice."

You should consider the fund's investment objectives, risks, charges and expenses carefully before you invest. The fund's prospectus or summary prospectus, which can be obtained by visiting americancentury.com, contains this and other information about the fund, and should be read carefully before investing.

Diversification does not assure a profit nor does it protect against loss of principal.

LIVESTRONG is a registered trademark of the LIVESTRONG® Foundation. American Century Investment Services, Inc. has entered into an agreement with the Foundation for rights to use the LIVESTRONG name. For more information about the foundation, visit LIVESTRONG.org

The funds are designed to provide a comprehensive and broadly diversified investment solution for an investor retiring in the target year of the fund. The target year is intended as a general guide and does not necessarily represent the exact year portfolio assets will be used. The fund is a "fund of funds," meaning that it seeks to achieve its objective by investing in other American Century Investments mutual funds. As the fund's target year approaches, its investment mix will adjust to become more conservative; the allocation to stocks will decrease, and the allocation to bonds and money market instruments will increase.

The fund's risks reflect those of the underlying investments. Market performance tends to be cyclical and if the market does not favor an underlying fund's style, that fund may suffer sharp declines as a result of earnings disappointments or other market or economic events. Foreign investment involves additional risks, including political instability and currency fluctuations. The value of an underlying fund's fixed-income securities is affected by interest-rate movements such that when interest rates rise, bond prices, and the value of the bond funds, fall.

One Choice is also a "fund of funds" assuming the risks of the underlying American Century Investments' mutual funds.
