Loomis Sayles Hires a Bear Stearns Alum

Boston-based Loomis, Sayles & Company has added Chris Harms to its fixed income group in a new position as a product manager for the relative return team. Harms started August 16 and reports to Mark Smith, managing director, Loomis Sayles Fixed Income.

As product manager, Harms serves as the internal resource to the organization regarding the team’s investment process, outlook and strategies, and is also involved in the development of client and marketing support, new product development and client intake issues. Harms joins Loomis Sayles from CapitalSource, and previously worked for MacKay Shields and Bear Stearns Asset Management.

The relative return portfolio management team, which includes Neil Burke, John Hyll, Peter Palfrey, Rick Raczkowski, Cliff Rowe and Kurt Wagner, oversees several of the company’s US benchmark-aware fixed income strategies.

Loomis Sayles' relative return products account for $24 billion in assets under management.

LOOMIS SAYLES ANNOUNCES NEW PRODUCT MANAGER TO RELATIVE RETURN TEAM BOSTON, MA (August 24, 2010) – Loomis, Sayles & Company has announced that Chris Harms has joined the Fixed Income group in a new position as a product manager for the Relative Return Team effective August16. Chris reports to Mark Smith, managing director, Loomis Sayles Fixed Income.

The Relative Return portfolio management team, which includes Neil Burke, John Hyll, Peter Palfrey, Rick Raczkowski, Cliff Rowe, and Kurt Wagner, oversees several of the company’s US benchmark-aware fixed income strategies including Core, Core Plus, Total Return (including Core, Multisector, Intermediate, and Long Duration among its strategies), Investment Grade Corporate Only, Investment Grade Intermediate Corporate, and Long Duration. Loomis Sayles' Relative Return products account for $24 billion in assets under management.

As product manager, Chris is a fully-integrated member of the Relative Return product team with responsibility for all activities related to client and distribution support. In this role, Chris is the internal resource to the organization regarding the team’s investment process, outlook and strategies and is the team advocate and resource in the development of client and marketing support, new product development and client intake issues. He works closely with client portfolio management, client service, marketing, institutional sales, corporate communications, and consultant relations to help ensure effective, transparent communication with clients and the marketplace.

Chris brings 30 years of investment experience to Loomis Sayles. Chris joins Loomis Sayles from CapitalSource, and previously worked for MacKay Shields and Bear Stearns Asset Management.
