Fidelity Investments has opened the doors on its new inflation-protected bond fund. The Fidelity Inflation-Protected Bond Fund invests primarily in inflation-protected debt securities.

The fund focuses on Treasury Inflation-Protected Securities or TIPS and is issued by the U.S. Treasury, said Sarah Libbey, senior vice president of Fidelity Personal Investments.

The fund joins a short list of competitors, including Pimco and American Century.
