Three Move Up at American Century

American Century Investments is promoting senior vice president and senior portfolio manager Scott Wittman to chief investment officer, quantitative equity and asset allocation effective March 31 and vice president and portfolio manager David Holland to chief investment officer, U.S. growth equity - mid & small cap, effective immediately.

Wittman takes over from 27-year company veteran John Schniedwind, who is retiring from American Century. Holland succeeds Glenn Fogle, who is departing the company after a five-month personal leave of absence.

In addition, American Century elevated Bryan Unterhalter to co-portfolio manager for Mid Cap Growth (Vista/VP Vista).

KANSAS CITY, Mo., Feb. 16, 2010 - American Century Investments announces the promotion of two veteran investment professionals. Senior Vice President & Senior Portfolio Manager Scott Wittman, CFA, is promoted to Chief Investment Officer, Quantitative Equity & Asset Allocation, effective March 31. Vice President & Portfolio Manager David Hollond is promoted to Chief Investment Officer, U.S. Growth Equity - Mid & Small Cap, effective immediately.

Wittman replaces John Schniedwind, CFA, senior vice president and chief investment officer, Quantitative Equity, who is retiring after 27 years with American Century Investments. Along with his CIO duties, Schniedwind serves as a co-portfolio manager for the firm's Core Value (Income & Growth), International Core Equity and Utilities strategies.

Wittman continues to lead American Century Investments' asset allocation team and serve as a co-portfolio manager for its asset allocation strategies, including the Strategic Allocation, LIVESTRONG® Portfolios and One Choice Portfolios®, as well as the State of Kansas 529 Plans.

Holland replaces Glenn Fogle, CFA, senior vice president and chief investment officer, U.S. Growth Equity - Mid & Small Cap, who is leaving the firm after a five-month personal leave of absence. Along with his CIO duties, Fogle served as a portfolio manager for Mid Cap Growth (VistaSM/VP Vista).

Hollond continues as co-portfolio manager for Opportunistic Mid Cap Growth (Heritage), All Cap Growth (Giftrust®) and VP Capital Appreciation.

Additionally, Bryan Unterhalter is promoted to co-portfolio manager for Mid Cap Growth (Vista/VP Vista).

Scott Wittman
An industry veteran with more than 25 years of experience, Scott Wittman joined American Century Investments in 2009 as head of its asset allocation strategies. Previously Wittman was president and CIO of Vantage Investment Advisors, a quantitative equity investment manager. At Munder Capital, he was managing director of Quantitative and Alternative Investments. Wittman also managed quantitative equity products at both TSA Capital Management and Mellon Bank. He holds a bachelor's degree in finance and an MBA, both from Indiana University. Wittman is a CFA charterholder and a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst.

David Holland
David Hollond brings 15 years of financial industry experience to his new role. He joined American Century Investments in 1998 as an investment analyst on the Vista team and was promoted to portfolio manager in 2004. Hollond became a portfolio manager on Heritage, Giftrust and VP Capital Appreciation in 2007. Previously, he was an equity analyst for the Federal Reserve Bank in Minneapolis. He holds an MBA from the Wharton School of Business, a master's degree in international studies from the University of Pennsylvania, a master's degree in economics from the University of Wisconsin and a bachelor's degree in Russian and economics from Grinnell College.

Bryan Unterhalter
Bryan Unterhalter is promoted to co-portfolio manager of Vista and VP Vista. Unterhalter, who joined American Century Investments in 2008, was a senior investment analyst on the team. He previously served as director of investments for the $1.2 billion Baylor College of Medicine Endowment Fund and as a portfolio manager for AIM Investments, where he worked for more than 11 years. Before that, he was an equity trader with Wells Fargo Bank. Unterhalter holds a bachelor's degree in government from the University of Texas and an MBA from the University of St. Thomas.
