Policy Makers To Talk About The Future

John Bogle, Harvey Goldschmid, chairman of the SEC, Paul Hagga, chairman of the Investment Company Institute and Don Phillips, managing director of Morningstar will be among a number of panelists participating in a summit tomorrow hosted by Fund Democracy and the University of Mississippi Law school in Oxford, Mississippi.

Zero Alpha Group, National Association of Personal Financial Advisors, and Financial Planning Association are sponsoring the event and it is open to the public.

The Summit will begin at 10 a.m. with a two-hour public panel discussion followed by a two-hour working lunch. Mercer Bullard, founder and president of Fund Democracy characterized the event as a day for leading policy makers to exchange ideas to effect change in the industry.

"It will be a high level discussion on some of the rules of fund direction, fund distribution, fund fees and how to communicate with investors how to make their decisions," he said.

  • Linda Dallas Rich, senior counsel, financial services committee, U.S. House of Representatives

  • John Rogers, chairman and ceo, Ariel Capital Management

  • Barbara Roper, director of investor protection, Consumer Federation of America

  • Paul Roye, director, division of investment, management, U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission

  • Erik Sirri, Walter H. Carpenter Professor of Finance, Babson College

  • Craig Tyle, general counsel, ICI
