Week in Preview, April 30-May 6

The Association of Investment Management Sales Executives' (AIMSE) 41st annual AIMSE Marketing & Sales Conference continues today. The three-day event is being held at the National Doral in Miami, Florida, and kicked off yesterday with golf and receptions. Sessions begin this morning, and speakers scheduled to appear include: Toni Cornelius of the Toigo Foundation; Steve Mazan, comedian; John Molesphini of eVestment; and many others. The conference has a number of sponsors, including: Callan, eVestment, MandateWire, and Satuit Technologies.

Also today, Lisa Wesolek is stepping down as chief operating officer of Diamond Hill Capital Management. She will retire from the company on December 31.

Also today, Dalia Blass, director of the investment management division of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), is delivering the keynote speech at the Practicing Law Institute's Investment Management Institute 2018 at PLI's New York Center in Manhattan.

Tomorrow is the deadline for nominations for the inaugural Diversity & Inclusion Awards from Crain's InvestmentNews. Both individual and firm awards are included.

Also tomorrow, the Joint Venture Events Group team will host their fourth annual Liquid Alternative Strategies Summit. The event will be held at the Convene Conference Center in Times Square in New York City and is being co-chaired by Greg Bassuk, managing director and head of liquid alternative strategies at FS Investments, and Rick Lake, co-founder and co-chairman of Lake Partners. Also tomorrow in midtown Manhattan, the Broadridge and Cogent teams are hosting a breakfast roundtable forum for fundsters. Titled "Where's Money Flowing and Why? The Latest Retail Distribution Trends Uncovered," the event will be held at the Convene on Park Avenue. On Wednesday Crain's InvestmentNews team will host a Women Adviser Summit at the Westin Chicago River North. On Thursday the Broadridge and Cogent teams will bring their breakfast roundtable forum to Boston, the Convene on Washington Street.

Also on Thursday in Boston, the teams at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Massachusetts Bay and Crain's InvestmentNews will host their Health and Wealth Leadership Forum: Investing For Longevity. The afternoon and evening event, which will take place at the Sheraton Boston Hotel, is Big Brothers Big Sisters of Massachusetts Bay's 20th anniversary leadership forum for "securities industry professionals." On Friday voting closes for ExchangeTradedFunds.com's 14th annual Global ETF Awards. The winners will be revealed at the 14th annual Global ETF Awards Dinner on June 14.

On Sunday the Investments & Wealth Institute team will kick off their 2018 Annual Conference Experience with a keynote speech from psychologist Daniel Goleman and an opening reception. 1,500 people are expected to attend the four-day event at Music City Center in Nashville, Tennessee. Big sponsors include Capital Group, Nationwide, Russell, and TD Ameritrade.
