Yesterday, as noted last week, the LPL Retirement Partners team kicked off their four-day annual conference for LPL's elite 401(k) plan advisors (KPAs). The conference is at the Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes, California.

Today the Financial Planning Association (FPA) team kicks off their 2017 annual conference, this time in Nashville, Tennessee at the Music City Center. The three-day event will feature a host of speakers, including: personal finance journalist Jean Chatzky; former UT head football coach Phillip Fulmer; and business journalist Ron Insana. Sponsors of the conference include: Betterment; Capital Preferences; Ryan Insurance; TD Ameritrade; Vanguard; and a host of others.

Also today, the Money Management Institute (MMI) team is kicking off their 2017 annual conference, this time in Chicago at the Swissotel. The three-day event will feature remarks from: Kevin Clifford, chairman and CEO of American Funds Distributors; Tom Faust, chairman, president, and CEO of Eaton Vance; Lisa Jones, president and CEO of Amundi Pioneer Asset Management; Kunal Kapoor, CEO of Morningstar; Tim Pawlenty, former Governor of Minnesota; Jason Selk, performance coach; Greg Valliere, chief global strategist at Horizon Investments; and Stephen Young, senior partner at Insight Education Systems. Sponsors of the conference include: BNY Mellon; CGI; Fiserv; Vestmark; and a host of others.

Tomorrow the Fund Intelligence team will host their 2017 Mutual Fund Service and Technology Awards, this time at the Pierre in New York City.

On Wednesday night the FUSE Research Network team will host a "strategic networking symposium at the Carrie Nation Restaurant and Cocktail Club in Boston. Then on Thursday they'll host their fourth annual FUSE Forum, again at the Harvard Club of Boston. FUSE chief Neil Bathon, Morgan Stanley Wealth Management consulting group and practice management director James Tracy, and a host of others will speak at the event.

Also on Thursday in Boston, the NICSA team will kick off their 2017 General Membership Meeting (GMM), this time at the Royal Sonesta. The two-day event will feature remarks from: Jeremy Gutsche, CEO of TrendHunter.com; Paul Schott Stevens, president and CEO of the ICI; and a host of others. Sponsors include: Alps; BNP Paribas; BNY Mellon; Cerulli; Citi; Delta Data; Doremus FP; DST; DTCC; Envision; Equity Institutional; Fidelity; Keppler; Northern Trust; and State Street.

Also on Thursday, Ariel Investments CEO John Rogers and president Mellody Hobson will host an open house at the Chicago-based fund firm's new New York City offices. Ariel's NYC team is now at 330 Madison Avenue, one block away from their old offices at 340 Madison.

Also on Thursday in the Big Apple, the Fixed Income Analysts Society, Inc. (FIASI) team will continue their speaker series with a cocktail reception featuring Loomis Sayles PM Daniel Fuss. The event will be held at the Cornell Club.

Friday is the deadline for entries for Pensions & Investments' annual Eddy Awards recognizing retirement plan sponsors and their service providers.

On Sunday the P&I team will kick off their West Coast Defined Contribution Conference, this time at the Manchester Grand Hyatt in San Diego. The three-day event will feature remarks from: Rebecca Brown, vice president of retirement at Providence St. Joseph Health; Grant Easterbrook, co-founder and CEO of Dream Forward; Cindy Rehmeier, manager of DC plans at the Missouri State Employees' Retirement System; Jeremy Smith, associate director of the financial security program at the Aspen Institute; and Meir Statman, professor of finance at Santa Clara University's school of business.
