Bob Doll Returns

Reported by Tommy Fernandez

Even before he started his planned retirement from BlackRock [profile], Bob Doll has rebooted his career.

Nuveen Investments [profile], a Nuveen Asset Management affiliate, has appointed Doll as chief equity strategist and senior PM, effective November 26, 2012.

The move follows an announcement made last week by BlackRock that Doll was planning to retire from the company.

A Nuveen spokesperson told MFWire.com that the position is a new one and that "Mr. Doll’s appointment to Chief Equities Strategist marks a key addition to the Nuveen Asset Management team."

"In addition to serving as chief equities strategist, Doll will also serve as senior portfolio manager, further strengthening the team’s fundamental equity investment capabilities," the spokesperson added. "His addition to the team meaningfully builds on the firm’s growing presence and capabilities in the equities space."

According to an SEC filing, Doll will serve as a PM for Santa Barbara Asset Management, which is a sub-advisor and Nuveen subsidiary.

Doll's retirement had been in the works for a while, with Doll ruminating about his departure before the summer.
