Former Fido Exec Named Biz School Faculty Director

by: Ki Kim

Boston University School of Management has named Scott Stewart, a former fund manager at Fidelity, as faculty director of its Master of Science in Investment Management (MSIM) program. Stewart has been with BU since 2001, and recently served as an executive-in-residence in the School of Management's finance and economics department.

The advisory board for the program consists of executives from a cross-section of the finance and investment industry.

"Recent changes in the investment and finance management community increasingly demand high-quality management practices and better-qualified professionals," said Louis E. Lataif, dean of BU's School of Management, in a release.

The advisory board includes Scott A. Bobeck of Morgan Stanley Dean Witter, Thomas D. Callahan of Wellington Management Company, Douglas Chamberlain of Appleton Partners, Brian Fullerton of Merrill Lynch Asset Management, Robert J. Haber of Fidelity Investments in Canada, Timothy Krochuck of GRT Capital Partners, Richard Leibovitch of Putnam Investments, Chris Piros of Prudential Investments, Stanley W. Shelton of State Street Global Advisors, Binkley Shorts of Wellington Management, Arnold S. Wood of Martingale Asset Management.

The program trains students in leading-edge theory and the practice of investment management. It covers risk management, derivatives, fixed income securities, and equity analysis. Students are able to earn the degree in less than two years.
