Columbia Management [see profile]
has two new mutual funds in the works for 2011, one powered by Threadneedle
. Last Friday the Ameriprise
subsidiary filed to create the Columbia Commodity Strategy Fund
and the Columbia Flexible Capital Income Fund
could not immediately reach a Columbia spokesman for comment.
Both funds are tentatively scheduled for launch 75 days from filing, i.e. mid-July, pending SEC approval. Columbia has not yet unveiled pricing for either fund.
The commodity fund will be sub-advised by another Ameriprise subsidiary, Threadneedle
, with David Donora
and Nicolas Robin
PMing and Daniel Belchers
as deputy PM. It will offer I and W shares only.
Columbia's own David King
and Yan Jin
will PM the income fund, which will offer A, C, I, R and Z shares.
Columbia will serve as the funds' transfer agent, administrator and distributor. JPMorgan
will provide custody services.
