Fundsters interested in the mutual fund rating firms may want to take a look at a new column in the
Associated Press. Yesterday Mark Jewell gave investors an
overview of how
Morningstar,
Lipper and
Standard & Poor's each rate mutual funds.
The AP cites what Morningstar's Russel Kinnel calls the "stupid penalty" (i.e. the difference in returns between the best and worst mutual funds). Both
