T. Rowe Price is adding its advisor shares to the
TD Waterhouse fund supermarket. The move will open purchases by advisors of the Baltimore fund firm's products without transaction fees. It also marks an admission of the importance of multiple distribution channels as T. Rowe Price has been considered a reluctant player in the no-fee supermarkets.
The addition will put 10 funds on the platform, including: Equity Income, Value, Blue Chip Growth, Mid-Cap Growth, Small-Cap Stock, Small-Cap Value, International Stock, Science & Technology, High Yield, and International Bond.
John Cammack, is managing director of T. Rowe Price and head of third party distribution.
Prior to the move advisors could only offer the funds to their clients as part of the fee portion of the supermarket. The new offerings should be a popular choice with advisors, contends
J. Thomas Bradley, Jr., president of TD Waterhouse Institutional Services. Advisors had been frequently requesting the funds, according to
Peter Mangan, chief operating officer of Mutual Funds at TD Waterhouse Group.
