State Street Research has tapped an operations executive from Precipio Partners. Mary Ruth Moran joins the Boston firm as executive vice president, head of Information Systems and Investment Administration & Operations. She is also a member of the firm's Management Committee.

She reports to Richard S. Davis, president and chief executive officer of the MetLife subsidiary. State Street Research manages $48 billion in assets, including $18 billion in fund assets.

Moran, 42, had been a founder of Precipio in 1998 and held the titles of president and ceo. Prior to founding the firm, she had been a senior vice president at American Express.

"Mary Ruth is an experienced leader with a demonstrated command of technology, operations and marketing. She will be an invaluable contributor to our efforts and we are pleased to welcome someone of this caliber to State Street Research," said Davis in a statement.
